GP Surgery-based Consultant Presentations

We are pleased to be able to offer a series of presentations, talks and workshops by our consultants at no cost to your surgery. These presentations take place in your own surgery at a time to suit your practice-training schedule, and at the convenience of your practice staff. All those attending will receive a certificate for inclusion in their continuing educational development records.

All talks are aimed at primary care management and referral only when necessary to secondary care. Sessions currently available are:

Dr Nik Sabhawal – All aspects of Cardiology, ECGs in Primary care
Dr Joanna D’Arcy – “Palpitations: Who, when and how to refer”, “Heart murmurs: A practical approach”, “Chest pain: When should I worry”, “Heart Failure: Managing medications”

Dr Jonathan Bowling – All skin conditions, scalp and hair loss problems.

Plastic, Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery
Mr Oliver Cassell – scars: management and treatment, handy hints how to manage a suspicious mole minor surgery – tips and hints / breast reconstruction cosmetic procedures and NHS rationing / what is in an implant.


Professor Nigel Arden – most rheumatological topics, but mainly osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis – diagnosis and treatments.

Mr Jonathan Nicholls – improving outcomes in female incontinence / menorrhagia: too much choice? How should we give patient advice / HRT: time to revisit?
Miss Uloma Okwuosa – Abnormal Uterine bleeding in pre-menopausal women/ Ovarian cysts management and referral

Mr James Owen – Lower limb orthopaedics / Assessment of the knee
