Mr Goodacre is a fully accredited plastic and reconstructive surgeon and has been in full time practice as a consultant for nearly 27 years. He undertook his initial qualification at St Thomas’ Hospital, London, prior to training in plastic surgery at Mount Vernon Hospital, Northwood and Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton. He spent two years at a mission hospital in East Africa, performing general and plastic reconstructive surgical work and joined Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust in 1991. He has recently ceased his NHS practice but continues to work in private practice and as an expert witness. He has particular interests in children plastic surgery, and cosmetic surgery to noses and facial areas as well as general plastic surgical procedures.
Mr Goodacre is Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in the Nuffield Department of Surgery, University of Oxford and an immediate past examiner and assessor for the UK’s Intercollegiate Board in Plastic Surgery. He has continuing research interests in the psychology of early life and disfiguring conditions and in researching robust outcome measures for plastic surgery. Mr Goodacre is part of the Oxtex group that is developing his original idea for a self-inflating tissue expansion device for use in reconstructive surgery.
