Vascular Surgery

Our vascular consultant specialises in dealing with diseases affecting the vascular system including disease of arteries, veins and lymphatic vessels.

Below are some explanations of the conditions the consultant specialises in:

Varicose veins are swollen and enlarged veins that usually occur on the legs and feet. The veins may appear blue or dark purple and can often be lumpy, bulging or twisted in appearance.

Peripheral artery disease is a common circulatory problem in which narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to your limbs. When you develop this disease your legs don’t receive enough blood flow to keep up with demand.

Carotid artery disease occurs when fatty deposits also known as plaques clog the blood vessels that deliver blood to your brain and head. Having this blockage increases your risk of having a stoke and can become a medical emergency when the blood supply to the brain is interrupted or seriously reduced.

Aortic Aneurysm is when a an abnormal bulge occurs in the wall of the major blood vessel known as the aorta which carried blood from your heart to your body. These aneurysms can occur anywhere in your aorta and can be tube shaped or round.
