Dr Nilay Chatterjee is a Consultant in Pain Medicine at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, one of the UK’s leading tertiary centres. He has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating complex acute and chronic pain conditions and has trained at top institutions across the UK, the Middle East, and India.
Dr Chatterjee specialises in chronic back and neck pain, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), joint-related pain, neuropathic pain, and headaches. His clinical practice focuses on advanced interventional pain procedures, including spine and joint injections, radiofrequency denervation, and image-guided techniques. He delivers care through a personalised, multidisciplinary approach, emphasising clear communication, shared decision-making, and helping patients regain function and quality of life.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Chatterjee is active in pain medicine research and education, with over 40 peer-reviewed publications. He regularly teaches and trains medical professionals at local and national levels, with academic interests in interventional pain techniques, complex pain syndromes, and service development.
He is a member of the Faculty of Pain Medicine (Royal College of Anaesthetists), European Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Therapy, and other national and international pain societies.
