NJR Awards The New Foscote Hospital for Patient Safety

The New Foscote Hospital awarded by the National Joint Registry for commitment to patient safety
The New Foscote Hospital is celebrating being named as a National Joint Registry (NJR) Quality Data Provider after successfully completing a national data quality audit programme for the hospital.
The NJR collects and monitors high-quality orthopaedic data on the performance of hip, knee, ankle, elbow and shoulder joint replacement in order to support patient safety, standards in quality of care, and overall value in joint replacement surgery, as well as to provide feedback on surgical performance to orthopaedic clinicians and joint replacement implant manufacturers. The ‘NJR Quality Data Provider’ certificate scheme was introduced to offer hospitals a blueprint for reaching high-quality standards relating to patient safety and to reward those who have met the registry’s high targets in the achievement of the quality of the data collected.
The annual NJR Data Quality Audit compares the number of joint replacement procedures submitted to the registry to the number of procedures that have been carried out and recorded in the local hospital Patient Administration System. The audit ensures that the NJR is collecting and reporting the most complete, accurate data possible in all hospitals performing joint replacement operations, including The New Foscote Hospital.
Commenting, Professor Kaveh Shakib, Group Chairman and Medical Director at The New Foscote Hospital, said:
“Ensuring patient safety through comprehensive data analysis and continual review is of the utmost importance at The New Foscote Hospital. The team is fully committed to maintaining the highest standards of care, and the hospital is proud to support the National Joint Registry’s audit programme. Recognition as an NJR Quality Data Provider reflects this commitment to clinical excellence and improved patient outcomes.”
Medical Director of the National Joint Registry, Mr Tim Wilton, said:
“Congratulations to colleagues at The New Foscote Hospital.
The Quality Data Provider Award received by the team at this hospital demonstrates the high standards that are being met in ensuring compliance with the registry and is a reflection of the strong departmental efforts to achieve such status.
As well as being a fundamental driver to inform improved quality of care for patients, our registry data also provides an important source of evidence for regulators, such as the Care Quality Commission, to help to inform their knowledge and judgement about the quality of health services.”
