Stroke
Overview
A stroke or “mini‑stroke” (Transient Ischaemic Attack) can leave weakness, speech difficulty or fatigue—but the brain can relearn quickly when therapy starts early.
At The New Foscote Hospital, Banbury we focus on outpatient recovery once emergency treatment is complete. You attend regular therapy sessions, review progress with a consultant neurologist and, if required, have follow‑up MRI scans—all in one calm private setting.
Why Outpatient Rehabilitation Matters
- Builds strength and balance, cutting fall risk
- Refines speech, language and safe swallowing
- Sharpens memory, attention and organisation for work or study
- Prevents shoulder pain and stiffness through guided exercises
- Manages fatigue, mood changes and confidence after stroke
- Reinforces lifestyle and medication changes that slash the risk of another event
Common After‑Effects We Treat
- Arm or leg weakness and poor coordination
- Slurred speech, word‑finding problems or swallowing difficulty
- Visual‑field loss, double vision or dizziness
- Numbness, tingling or shoulder pain
- Fatigue, slowed thinking or memory lapses
- Anxiety, low mood or frustration with daily tasks
