Professor Winter is a Consultant Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) Surgeon in Oxford with a private practice based at the New Foscote Hospital, Banbury and an NHS consultant practice based at the John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospitals.
Professor Winter is able to offer advice on a broad range of ENT problems, both adult and children. He is able to offer advice and treatment for conditions including salivary gland problems, sinus disease, ear problems, Snoring, Dysphagia (swallowing problems), Hearing loss, Nasal polyps, Neck lumps, Head and neck cancer.
Professor Winter has a specialist interest in tumours of the head and neck, both benign and malignant. He is a recognised national expert in the treatment and management of tumours. He is a member of the Oxford Head and Neck Multidisciplinary team and lead head of department for head and neck surgery in Oxford. He is able to advise on a wide range of problems including lumps in the head and neck, cancer and benign tumours of the head and neck, salivary problems, sore throats and tonsillitis, sinus problems, swallowing problems, snoring, hearing loss and tinnitus
Professor Winter has been an advisor to a number of national bodies, including NICE, ENT-UK, and NHS Scotland. Professor Winter has always recognised the importance of research, both to be able to critically appraise information but also to be able to advise his patients on new developments. He is involved in a number of high profile national studies. He is also actively involved in teaching, and is frequently invited to lecture at a number of national meetings. He has authored a number of books and book chapters.
Outside work he enjoys spending time with his family, sport and sailing.
