Conditions Treated with Shoulder Replacement
- Osteoarthritis
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Rotator cuff arthropathy
- Severe fractures or trauma
- Avascular necrosis
- Chronic shoulder instability
What to Expect
- Initial Consultation
You’ll meet with one of our orthopaedic surgeons who will assess your shoulder through a physical examination and imaging. They’ll explain your options clearly and help you decide if surgery is right for you. - The Procedure
Surgery typically takes 1–2 hours under general anaesthesia. Damaged joint surfaces are removed and replaced with artificial components made of metal and plastic. - Recovery & Aftercare
Patients usually stay in hospital for 1–2 nights. You’ll begin gentle physiotherapy soon after surgery to regain motion and strength, with ongoing support from our in-house rehabilitation team.
